Blue Jays Fall to Northwestern, 27-10
The Westminster football team lost the second place battle to the University of Northwestern on Saturday, October 24. The Westminster Blue Jays are now 5-3 on the season and 5-2 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.

Northwestern scored first after a 4-yard pass with 6:05 left in the first quarter. They went for the two-point conversion, but freshman Anthony Washington pushed them back seven yards to leave their lead at 6-0. The Northwestern Eagles went up 13-0 in the second quarter with a 48-yard touchdown pass.

On the next drive, the Blue Jays scored on a 23-yard rush by sophomore Latif Adams. Senior kicker Kevin Ludwig's PAT was good, bringing the game to 13-7 with 5:15 left in the half.

Neither team was able to find the endzone again in the final five minutes, sending the game into halftime 13-7.

On the first drive of the third quarter, Northwestern scored again to take the 20-7 lead.

The Blue Jays were stopped on the Northwestern 6-yard line, but Ludwig hit a 23-yard field goal to bring the score to 20-10.

Northwestern scored the final touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter to end the game 27-10.

Adams led the rushing game with 128 yards. Junior Mike Washington led the air game with 49 yards while freshman Teddy Deas added 25 yards.

Senior Carlos Weeden Jr. and freshman Zach Roseman led the defense with nine tackles each. 

The Blue Jays play their final away game of the season on Saturday, October 31, at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. Kickoff is at 1:00 pm.
