SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Westminster football falls to 1-2 on the season by falling  17-10  to UMAC opponent MacMurray.

"MacMurray is a great, competitive team," said Westminster Head Coach John Welty. "We played good offense and defense but couldn't get the ball to the endzone despite having some great opportunities." 

The Highlanders scored the first touchdown of the game at the 10-minute mark of the first quarter on a 24-yard completion. MacMurray completed its first drive in under four minutes and went 85 yards to complete the scoring drive. 

The Blue Jays fought back in the first quater with a 25-yard field goal from Ian Pletenik on a14-play, 62 yard.

Quaterback Trent White put the Blue Jays up in the second quarter with a two-yard touchdown run. Pletenik made the point-after to put Westminster up 10-7. 

The Highlanders were able to even the score in the third quarter on a 28-yard field goal by Grant Cooper.

With 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter, MacMurray completed a 21-yard pass for a touchdown that would ultimately win the game for the Highlanders.

The Blue Jays led the Highlanders in total offense with 417 yards to MacMurray's 357. 

White completed 26 of 48 passes for 269 yards while scoring one touchdown for the Blue Jays. He also led the team in rushing yards with 92.

"Trent had another great football game," said Welty. "He made great throws and got us key first downs. He makes plays for us when there are no plays." 

Mike Washington led the team in receiving yards with 65 while Teddy Deas followed with 62. 

Ayo Oyesanya tallied one sack for a loss of six yards. 

"When we get our offense going, we are going to be fun to watch," said Welty. "When we get that part going, we'll be hard to stop." 

Westminster returns home next Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup against Greenville.
