Blue Jay Open Season At Principia College; Giles and Martin Set PR’s

Elsah, IL 9/1/2023- The Westminster College men's cross-country team traveled to Elsah, Illinois, on Friday to begin their season at Principia College. They competed against Coe College, Mineral Area Community College and fellow SLIAC members, Blackburn College, and the hosts' Principia College. The Blue Jays would finish in fourth place overall as a team with a score of 94. Junior's Michael Giles and Lane Martin would set personal records in the 6k.

Giles finished seventh overall with a time of 21:51.

Martin finished 17th overall with a time of 23:51.

Sophomore runner Kerrick Adkins finished with a time of 27:21 and placed 22nd.

Freshman Henry Warfel, competing in his first collegiate event, would post a mark of 27:37, good for 23rd overall.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Friday, September 15th when they compete in the Larry Young Invitational hosted by Columbia College at Gans Creek in Columbia, Missouri
