Volleyball Splits on Day One of UW-Platteville Tournament

The Westminster women's volleyball team split on day one of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Tournament. The tournament, started on Friday, September 4, hosted three other teams including host UW-Platteville, Westminster College, Ripon College and Cornell College. The Blue Jays first defeated Ripon College 3-0 in the opening game of the tournament by the scores of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-19, but dropped their first match of the season to #22 ranked Cornell College in game two (19-25, 25-20, 15-25, 26-28).

Senior Lexi Collier hit .800 on the match versus Ripon with eight kills and no errors on 10 attempts. Junior Kayla Reeg had 27 assists, nine digs and three service aces. Sophomore Hannah Marshall led with four service aces.

The Blue Jays lost their first match of the season in the second game of the tournament versus Cornell. Junior Amanda Kiso led the team with a .438 hitting percentage, and Marshall led the Blue Jays with 13 kills. Reeg had 31 assists and freshman Bridget Ringwald had 15 digs. 

The Blue Jays face UW-Platteville at 10:00 am on Saturday, followed by Gustavus Adolphus at 12:00 pm.
