Westminster Volleyball Draws Chicago in NCAA First Round

The Westminster volleyball team will face regional host University of Chicago in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Friday. The match is set for 8 p.m. at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center in Chicago.

The Maroons are hosting the eight-team regional after going 26-3 and earning an at-large bid. Chicago is coming off of a five-set loss to Emory in the University Athletic Association Championship match.

Westminster earned an automatic bid after defeating MacMurray in four sets in the SLIAC Championship. This is the first NCAA tournament appearance for the Blue Jays since 1998.

The winner of the match will advance to the second round to take on the winner of the Otterbein University and Wisconsin-Whitewater matchup. The second round game will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Other teams competing in the regional are Carthage College, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Grinnell College and Washington University-St. Louis.
