ST. LOUIS - Westminster volleyball fell 3-0 to Hendrix to close the Washington University Invite 1-2 on the weekend.
The Blue Jays start the year 1-2 after the loss.
Westminster played the first set close, eventually falling 25-20. Westminster remained close throughout the first set, keeping a tie at nine points apiece and staying within two points through the 15-point mark.
Hendrix pulled ahead late in the set, eventually taking a 22-17 lead for the first five-point lead of the set.
After the set one victory, Hendrix ran away with the final two sets, overcoming the Blue Jays 25-9, 25-13.
Sarah Rivers led the offense with six kills, with Teresa Becker adding 14 assists and Erica Schrader with eight digs.
Becker was name to the All-Tournament team for her effort over three games.
The Blue Jays stay on the road for a nonconference match against WashU Sept. 10.
