St. Louis, MO, 11/2/21 – The Westminster College Volleyball team came into their last regular season game knowing that they had the number two seed in this coming Saturday's SLIAC Conference Tournament already secured.  The game at the Webster University Gorloks could have evened the Blue Jay record on the season.  The Gorloks had other ideas and swept past the Blue Jays in straight sets Tuesday night in St. Louis.  The loss dropped the Blue Jays to 13-15 on the season and 9-3 in the SLIAC.  Webster improves to 12-13 overall and 6-6 in the SLIAC.

The Blue Jays were led offensively by Haley Menke (O'Fallon, MO / Fort Zumwalt South) and Payton Bledsoe (Mexico, MO / Mexico) who each had ten kills. Bledsoe hit a team high .529 on the night.  Gretchen Durbala (Burlington, IA / Burlington) recorded 23 assists to lead the Blue Jays.  Eryka Wanyonyi (Columbia, MO / Hickman) would lead the Blue Jays defensive effort with 17 digs.  Erica Schrader (Imperial, MO / St. Pius X) followed with 15 digs.  Schrader would lead the Blue Jays with two service aces.  Bledsoe would be credited for two solo blocks and five total blocks and Claire Whitehouse (St. Louis, MO / Parkway Central) also had two solo blocks and had four blocks total.

The Blue Jays will now wait to see who they will play in the SLIAC Conference Tournament Semifinals which will be hosted by regular season champion Greenville University.  The Semifinals will take place on Saturday November 6th. The Blue Jays will play the next lowest remaining seed from Thursday nights two quarterfinal games. The Blue Jays will get started on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the SLIAC Championship game played later that night at 6:00 p.m.
