Blue Jays Win On Senior Day 

Fulton, Mo 2/17/2024- The Westminster College men's basketball team hosted the Mississippi University of Women (MUW) on senior day. The Blue Jays honored their two seniors, Elijah Powell and Brennan Jeffries, pregame. In a game that saw eight lead changes, Westminster would come out on top 64-52. The Blue Jays were on the bubble of getting into the SLIAC men's basketball tournament. A win kept their playoff hopes alive. Unfortunately, Westminster's season comes to an end, and they finish with a 6-19 record overall and a 6-12 record in the SLIAC. MUW also wraps up their season with a record of 7-18 overall and 3-15 in the SLIAC.  

The Blue Jays would trail by one point at halftime. Westminster came back and outscored the Owls by 13 points in the second half to win the game 64-52. The Blue Jays were led by their senior and freshman guards. Senior Brennan Jeffries had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in his final game as a Blue Jays. Freshman Jack Fessenden had 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Fellow freshman Walker Gohring had 11 points and Gavin Hendrix had 10 points and 15 rebounds off the bench.  

Westminster wraps up their 2nd season under head coach Todd Creal and the future looks bright for Blue Jay basketball. We would like to congratulate Elijah Powell and Brennan Jeffries on their outstanding careers and thank them for helping build the foundation that this young Blue Jays squad will build on.
