McCaul Wins Two Events at Central Methodist

FAYETTE, Mo. - Westminster men's and women's track and field opened the 2017 outdoor season at Central Methodist last Saturday.

The men's team finished in 12th place with 11 points while the women finished seventh, scoring 56 points.

Scoring points for the men's team was Glen Tuebner, who came in fourth in the 3,000 meter run, finishing in 9 minutes, 31.21 seconds. 

Ryan Dyer finished in sixth in the 800 meters to add the the Blue Jays' point total on the day, finishing the two laps in 2:03.59. Addison Conway also finished in sixth in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 22.92. 

On the women's side, the distance team stepped up to score a majority of Westminster's points. Shannon McCaul (10:46.84) and Jessie Kuykendall (10:59.69) finished first and second, respectively, in the 3,000 meter run. 

McCaul also took home a first-place finish in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:23.94. Charlotte Blair finishing in seventh, just behind McCaul at 2:31.78.

Taylor Howard scored points in multiple events for the women's team, including fourth in the pole vault (2.60 meters), fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.22), 10th in the javelin (23.03 meters), and helping the 4x100 relay team to a second place finish. 

Whitney Mitchhart helped the Blue Jay cause with a seventh place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 19.66. She also placed eitghth in the 400-meter hurdles. 

The Blue Jay 4x400 team ended the day with a third-place finish. The team was made up of Morgan Henry, Howard, Blair, and Abby Beach.
