The Return:  Women's Basketball Releases 2021-22 Schedule

Fulton, Mo., August 23, 2021 – The Westminster College Blue Jay women's basketball team announced its schedule to the world today.  After a pandemic delayed and shortened season in the Spring of 2021, the Blue Jays and Talisha Washington, the 2021 SLIAC Coach of the Year, are looking for a return to a normal college season this coming Fall. "We are excited to be able to have a full schedule this season" said Washington.  She added, "Our nonconference schedule is set to be challenging to help prepare us for conference play. We're looking forward to watching our team compete and grow through every opponent."  The 2020-21 season saw the Jays go 12-3 overall and 7-2 in SLIAC play finishing 2nd.  The Blue Jays then went on to win the SLIAC Conference Tournament Championship with a thrilling 80-73 win over top seeded Webster University.

The 2021-22 season kicks off on November 5th when the Blue Jays will travel to Decatur, Illinois to take on Millikin University in a 7:00 p.m. tip off in the Millikin University Tip-Off Tournament.  The Blue Jays will kick off the home portion of the schedule on November 20th when the Jays welcome the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Historic Gym for a 3:00 p.m. afternoon start.  Conference play will begin on January 5th when the Blue Jays will travel to Eureka College for a 5:30 p.m. tip off. It will be the first of 14 conference games that will decide the 2021 SLIAC Regular Season Champion.    

The Blue Jays will play 25 games overall this season. Ten of those games will be on the home court of Historic Gym, 11 will be on the road and four will be played on a neutral court.  Here are some other key matchups for the Blue Jays in 2021-22.  December 20th will see the Blue Jays play the first of two games in Florida in the Daytona Beach Shootout.  They will take on Carrol University from Waukesha, Wisconsin first before a matchup with New Jersey City University on December 21st. New Year's Eve will see the Blue Jays travel to take on national power Washington University in St. Louis in a 5:00 p.m. contest. The first of two rematches of the 2021 SLIAC Tournament Championship will be on January 15th in St. Louis where they will meet the Webster Gorloks in a 1:00 p.m. showdown. The Blue Jays will celebrate 2022 Senior Day when they take on the Blackburn College Beavers in a 5:30 p.m. tip off on February 16th.  The full 2021 Westminster College women's basketball schedule can be found HERE.
