Blue Jays Fall To Hot Shooting Kohawks

Cedar Rapids, IA, 11/12/21 – The Blue Jay women's basketball team traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on the host school of the Coe College Tournament Friday night. The Blue Jays just couldn't keep pace with the hot shooting Kohawks who shot 53% from the field, 50% from three and 76% from the free throw line.  The Blue Jays would fall on the road by a score of 83-62.

The Blue Jays were led by senior Reese Arnold (Lonedell, Mo. / Washington) with 19 points, Avylina Powell-Qualo (Republic, MO / Republic) followed with 12 points and freshman Annette Ramirez (Sarcoxie, MO / Sarcoxie) rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 points.  Powell-Qualo led the Jays with six rebounds as the Jays were outrebounded 40-24 by the Kohawks.  Shelby Kurtz (Camdenton, MO / Camdenton) led the Blue Jays with four assists. 

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they will complete their participation in the Coe College Tournament when they face off against the Central College Dutch.  The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. tip off.
