ST. LOUIS – Westminster women's soccer added six players to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, including two first team selections.
Heidi Gundy and Cara Wilfong earned first team honors, Gracie Koonce and Natalie Schulte earned second team honors, and Madison Ekern and Sarah Cradick landed on the third team.
The first team nod is the first for Gundy, who recorded her best offensive season as a Blue Jays this year. She added nine goals and five assists for 23 points, including her first career hat trick earlier this season. She led the team in shot percentage, recording her nine goals on just 15 shots, including 11 on goal.
Wilfong was selected to an All-Conference team for the first time as well this season with her first team selection. As a midfielder, she scored six goals and four assists this season while helping a Blue Jay defense that recorded 10 shutouts this season. Wilfong scored the game-winning penalty kick in the SLIAC semifinal match against Fontbonne to send to the team to the SLIAC championship.
On the second team was Koonce and Schulte, both dynamic goal-scorers for the Blue Jays. Koonce was second in the league in goals with 16 and second in the league in points with 41, leading the Blue Jays in both categories. In the team's last regular season match, Koonce broke the career record for points and goals. This is the second straight second team nod for Koonce.
Schulte was second on the team in goals and points with 11 goals and six assists for 28 points. The second team pick is the first All-Conference selection for Schulte, who led the team in shots with 54, including 30 on goal. Schulte also led the team in game-winning goals with four.
Madison Ekern earned her second straight third team nod by anchoring a Blue Jay defense that recorded 10 shutouts this season. Along with her strong defensive play, Ekern recorded four goals on 28 shots and one assist.
Rounding out the All-Conference awards for Westminster is Sarah Cradick, who led the SLIAC in both save percentage at .889 and goals-against average at .057, allowing just 10 goals during the conference season. Westminster shutout Blackburn in the final match of the regular season to give Cradick the season shutouts record with 10. The All-Conference award is the first in Cradick's career.
Finally, Paige Price was chosen as the Westminster representative on the All-Sportsmanship team for her exemplary display of sportsmanship throughout the season.
