Gundy Selected as 2019 SLIAC Post-Graduate Scholarship Winner

Heidi Gundy was selected as one of the 2019 recipients of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Post-Graduate Scholarship.

Gundy is the ninth Westminster student-athlete to receive the award but the first from the women's soccer program.

Heidi Gundy was a four-year member of the Westminster College women's soccer program and will be graduating this spring with a degree in Exercise Science. The senior from Columbia, Mo. carries a 4.0 grade-point average and will be attending the University of Missouri: Sinclair's Accelerated Nursing Program after graduation from Westminster.

On the playing field, Gundy was a team captain and helped the Blue Jays to a pair of SLIAC Tournament titles including this past fall. Following her senior season this fall she was named First Team All-Conference and First Team Academic All-District. She also became just the second Blue Jay to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. 

Outside of soccer Gundy has been a work-study employee and intern in the Westminster Athletic Training Department since 2015. In addition, Gundy has worked with Kid's Across America as a nurse's aid for the last two summers and as a volunteer coach with the YMCA youth soccer league. Gundy is also involved with Special Olympics, Special Services, and the Super Sam Foundation.

he SLIAC Post Graduate Scholarship is presented to two graduating senior student-athletes each year.  Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), must have earned two varsity letters in a sport in which the Conference sponsors a Championship and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Scholarship recipients are selected through a vote of the Conference FARs and receive a scholarship during their first two years of postgraduate studies.
