McCaul Wins SLIAC Track Athlete of the Year, Three Events at SLIAC Championships

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Shannon McCaul was named the SLIAC Women's Co-Track Athlete of the Year after winning three events at the SLIAC Championships Monday. 

Along with McCaul, Jessie Kuykendall won two events, and the team took third overall with 91 points on the back of the strong distance team performance. 

McCaul took home first-place finishes in the 800, 1500, and 3000-meter steeplechase. 

She ran the 800 in 2 minutes, 26.79 seconds, the 1500 in 5:09.88, and the steeplechase in 11:40.5 to take 30 points for the Blue Jays. 

Kuykendall won the 10,000 meters and the 5000 meters for Westminster to earn 20 more points. She finished the 10K in 41:46.73 and the 5K in 18:20.85, more than one minute faster than her closest competitor. 

Also scoring points for the Blue Jays was Morgan Henry with a sixth-place finish in the 400 and a fifth-place finish in the 800. Madison Zack finished fourth in the 10,000 meters, while Whitney Michhart finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles. 

Taylor Howard earned points with her fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles and a third-place finish in the pole vault and the javelin.
