Deion Hughes stands out in baseball for his rare dual role as a starting player both on the field and in the pitching rotation. A four-time all-conference player, Hughes earned first-team honors in his sophomore, junior, and senior years, with additional academic accolades in his final three seasons. His sophomore year saw him named to the ABCA All-America Second Team, while his senior year was marked by being named SLIAC Player of the Year and an ABCA All-America First Team selection. That year, he also led Westminster to its first conference tournament title since 1999 and secured the College's third NCAA tournament berth. Hughes dominates the Blue Jays' statistical charts, holding records for single-season wins, career wins, career strikeouts, complete games, and shutouts. After graduating with a degree in information technology, Hughes joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a computer information specialist. He currently lives in Jefferson City with his wife, Rachel, who is expecting their first child.
