Baseball Season Comes to a Close with 3-1 Loss to MUW

05/09/2025 O'Fallon, MO- Westminster College's baseball season ended with a 3-1 loss to Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on May 9th, in an elimination game at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, MO. Despite a solid pitching performance from Jack Page and a defensive effort that kept the game close, the Blue Jays couldn't find the offensive spark they needed to advance.

Westminster took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Braden Eye crossed the plate after a sacrifice pop-up by Brett Montgomery, giving the Blue Jays a brief advantage. However, that would be the only run they managed to score in the game. The Blue Jays struggled to string together hits and left 10 runners on base, unable to add any further runs to their tally.

MUW took the lead in the fifth inning with a three-run rally. A triple to right field, driving in two players, followed by a double, which brought in another player to make it 3-1. The Blue Jays tried to rally but couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities in the remaining innings.

Keli'i Price led Westminster with a 1-for-4 performance, while Braden Eye also had a hit and reached base twice. Sam Alles and Beno Ballard each contributed with a walk, but the offense was limited to just four hits throughout the game.

On the mound, Jack Page (3-4) went the distance for Westminster, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out four, and walking one. While Page kept his team in the game, he was outdueled by MUW's Landon Clark, who threw a complete game, giving up just one run and striking out seven.

With the loss, Westminster's season came to an end in the elimination round of the SLIAC tournament with an overall record of 19-22.
