Blue Jays Wrap Up Regular Season with Sweep, Secure No. 6 Seed

5/5/25 Fulton, MO - Westminster softball closed out its regular season in dominant fashion Sunday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against Eureka and earning the No. 6 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. With the wins, the Blue Jays clinched the opportunity to host the play-in game on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, against Mississippi University for Women (MUW) at 4:30 p.m. 

Game 1: Westminster 20, Eureka 2 (5 innings) 

The Blue Jays' bats exploded for a season-high 20 runs on 15 hits in the opening game, including a 10-run fifth inning that slammed the door on Eureka. 

Kendall Weber led the offense, going 4-for-6 with 4 RBIs and three singles in the final three innings. Taylor Engelmeyer added three hits and two RBIs, while Ellie Bedsworth collected two doubles and drove in three. Angela McQuarrie reached base five times and had 4 RBIs in a breakout performance. In the circle, Madison Plybon earned the win (3-6), tossing four innings and allowing just two runs. Haley Miller closed the game with a scoreless fifth, striking out three. 

Game 2: Westminster 7, Eureka 4 

Game two was tighter, but a 6-run sixth inning lifted Westminster to the sweep. Trailing 4-1 entering the frame, the Blue Jays sent 10 batters to the plate and flipped the momentum. 

Weber again delivered, notching two hits and two RBIs. Bedsworth's 2-run double down the left field line tied the game, and Engelmeyer and Tatum Bradshaw followed with RBIs to give Westminster the lead. Mackenzie Collins added a sacrifice fly for the final run. Pitcher Haley Miller earned her first win of the season with two innings of strong relief, holding Eureka to one run. 

Westminster enters the postseason on a hot streak and will host MUW in the SLIAC Tournament Play-In Game on Tuesday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. at home.
