Armontrout Records Double-Double in 78-74 Win Over Millikin

Westminster's junior Krista Armontrout recorded her first collegiate double-double in Friday's 78-74 win over Millikin University. The women's basketball team moves to 1-1 on the season after day one of the annual Tip-Off Tournament hosted this year by Greenville College.

The Blue Jays held a 21-18 lead over Millikin after the first quarter, but Millikin outscored the Blue Jays 23-16 in the second quarter to head into halftime with the 41-37 advantage. After three quarters of play, the Blue Jays led 60-57. They went on to win the game 78-74.

"We battled," stated Head Coach Tracey Braden. "Armontrout was a huge key as she played a great game. Our bench provided so much energy and really helped us stay in the game during Millikin's runs."

"Andrea (Zalis) hit a big three at the end of the fourth quarter to give us a little breathing room," Coach Braden continued. "Our team showed mental and physical toughness, especially late in the game."

As a team, the Blue Jays shot 39.4% from the field. Armontrout dominated the court with her double-double performance. She led the floor with 16 rebounds including nine defensive. She scored 19 of the Blue Jay's points after shooting 47% from the field.

Senior Kasey Gatson led the floor with 22 points. She shot 50% from the field and 57% from the three-point line. She also added four assists.
