Kuykendall Finishes Seventh at Missouri Southern Stampede

Joplin, Mo. – Two-time St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Jessie Kuykendall finished seventh in the NAIA/NCAA D-III/Junior College women's race of the 29th annual Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin. Kuykendall, the reigning SLIAC runner of the week, completed the 5K course with a time of 18:58.26.

Cowley (Kan.) College won the race with a score of 61 points. Tulsa captured the NCAA D-I/D-II race with 33 points, placing four runners in the top eight.

Also placing for the Blue Jays were junior Charlotte Blair (125th, 22:19.7), followed by junior Kelsey Newland (176th, 24:29.5).

In the men's NAIA/DIII/JC race, freshman Sam Moore led the way for the Blue Jays, finishing 146th with a time of 31:29.3, followed by sophomores Joseph Labitska (168th, 32:24.5), and Brian Sellenriek (222nd, 41:08.3). Hutchinson (Kan.). Community College took first place with 42 points; the Tulsa men's team also captured the D-I/D-II race.

The Blue Jays return to racing on September 28 when Westminster travels to Decatur, Ill., for the HW Wright Classic.
