Freshman Have Impressive Blue Jay Debut 
 

Jacksonville, IL 2/3/2024- The Westminster College women's track and field team competed in the Jim Green Invitational hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. Freshman Kalie Strayhorn would win the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 27.00 seconds and placed third in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 8.09 seconds. Fellow freshman Emma Braby placed 10th in the women's shot put with a 10.55-meter throw.  

Strayhorn broke the school's modern-day indoor record in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. The previous 60-meter dash record was 8.20 seconds set in 2014 by Nyima Njie. The previous 200-meter dash record was 27.47 and was set in 2015 by Tanisha Terrell. 

Braby broke the school's modern-day indoor shot-put record, which was previously 9.19 meters and was set in 2020 by Haleigh St. Clair. 

The Blue Jays will return on February 16th when they compete in the Illinois College Hilltop Classic in Jacksonville, Illinois at 5 PM
