Annette Ramirez Named February Player of the Month

Senior basketball player Annette Ramirez has been named Westminster College's February Player of the Month. A key leader on the court, Annette's performances were pivotal in the team's successful month. The Reeds, Missouri native is majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and has proven to be an exceptional student-athlete throughout her time at Westminster.

Annette's February statistics were nothing short of outstanding. She averaged 31.5 minutes per game, 32.33 points per game, and shot an impressive 49.75% from the field. In addition, she made 4.33 three-pointers per game at 42% and achieved a remarkable 85.83% from the free-throw line. A major highlight of the month was Annette breaking the All-Time Scoring SLIAC Record and surpassing 2,000 career points, emphasizing the incredible work she's put in over her four years at Westminster.

When asked about her Player of the Month honor, Annette humbly responded, "Winning Player of the Month means a lot to me because it shows how hard we have worked as a team. This award wouldn't be possible without the other 18 girls on the team, so I give all the credit to them and to God for allowing me to be a part of this special group."

Off the court, Annette is actively involved in various campus organizations. She serves as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (CRU), the Education Association, and Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). Her involvement in these groups demonstrates her dedication to making a positive impact both within the athletic community and beyond.

Reflecting on key moments from February, Annette shared, "Breaking the All-Time Scoring SLIAC Record and surpassing 2,000 points were a couple of key moments when I felt my hard work really paid off. These two milestones have shown just how much work I've put into this season and over my four years here. I wouldn't have imagined I'd be in a position to achieve these things, but I'm so grateful to my teammates and coaches for making it possible."

Annette's favorite aspect of being on the team is the close-knit relationships she shares with her teammates. "My favorite thing about being a part of this team is simply being around my teammates. Each of them brings so much joy into my life, and I don't know what I would do without them. These girls see me beyond basketball, and I'm very appreciative to have a friend in each of them."

When she's not on the court, Annette enjoys spending time with her friends, where there's never a dull moment. "It's always great to come home and spend time with my friends," she says, highlighting the importance of balance in her busy life as a student-athlete.

Looking back on her time at Westminster, Annette shared her perspective on her college experience. "Regardless of how the season went, I've gained so much more than what winning is worth. If I had the chance to go back and do it all over again, knowing the outcome of each season, I'd do it in a heartbeat. This sport and college have brought me so many friendships, and I'm thankful I had the chance to spend my four years here."

Congratulations to Annette Ramirez on being named February Player of the Month. Her dedication, leadership, and exceptional performances on and off the court continue to inspire her teammates and the entire Westminster College community.
