Fulton, MO, 9/30/21 – Athletic Director Matt Mitchell has announced that Tyler Yunk has been hired to be the new head men's and women's track & field and cross-country coach.  Yunk replaces Will Crocker who left earlier this month to take a coaching position at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Yunk comes to Westminster after serving as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Track and Field and Cross-Country powerhouse North Central College in Naperville, IL. While at North Central Yunk was part of Cardinal National Championship teams in men's cross country and men's indoor track and field in 2018.

"Tyler has experience at one of the very best NCAA Division III Track & Field and Cross-Country programs in the country.  He is exactly who we need to come in here and help our programs grow and thrive in the SLIAC.", said Mitchell

Before his time at North Central, Yunk was the distance coach at Dundee Crown High School in Carpentersville, Illinois.  While at Dundee Crown he helped coach a 4X800 relay team to a third-place state finish and set a new school record

In college Yunk ran the 5K and the 1500 meter run at Kansas University for the Jayhawks.  Before his junior year Yunk would transfer back to his home state to attend and run for the Panthers of Eastern Illinois University where he would graduate from in the Spring of 2017.

Coach Yunk comes from a family of runners and coaches.  His father Troy is a hall of fame track & field and cross country coach in the state of Illinois, his older brother Bruyn is a high school girls' cross country and track coach in Illinois, and his younger brother, Eryk, is his assistant coach at Westminster.
