Blue Jays Extend Winning Streak To Nine

Eureka, IL 2/10/2024-The Westminster College women's basketball team traveled to Eureka, Illinois, for the final road game of the season to take on the Eureka College Red Devils. After a slow start in the first quarter, the Blue Jays would go on to win the game 72-54 and extended their winning streak to nine games. Westminster improves to 14-9 on the season and 12-4 in the SLIAC, sitting in the number two spot with two games remaining in the regular season. Eureka falls to 5-18 on the year and 3-13 in the SLIAC. 

The Red Devils would lead 20-11 after the first quarter, jumping out on the Blue Jays. Westminster would respond in the second quarter, outscoring Eureka 19-7 to take a 30-27 lead at halftime. From there, the Blue Jays would not look back, scoring 30 points in the third quarter and running away with it to a final score of 72-54. 

Caragan Lockard led the Blue Jays with 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Annette Ramirez had 12 points and Chole Akerson had 11 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds. 

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Thursday, February 15th when they welcome the Scots from Lyon College to the Historic Gymnasium. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 pm.
