Greenville, IL 4/27/2024- The Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the 2024 SLIAC Outdoor Championships. The men would finish 8th overall with 18 team points and the women placed 5th overall with a team score of 38. Freshman, Kalie Strayhorn, was the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year and the SLIAC Athlete of the Year. She is the 1st ever track and field athlete for Westminster to be named the Newcomer of the Year and she is the 2nd Blue Jay ever to be named the SLIAC Athlete of the Year. Shannon McCaul earned this honor back in 2017. Strayhorn would win the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.20 seconds, and she won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.04 seconds.
Women's Results:
Kalie Strayhorn won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.20 seconds. Strayhorn would also win the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.04 seconds.
Moenaisa Sidique placed 5th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.77. Sidique finished 12th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.56 seconds.
Natalie Stewart finished 4th overall in the javelin with a throw of 31.16 meters.
Emma Braby placed 5th overall in the javelin with a throw of 30.31 meters. Braby finished 5th in the shot put with a throw of 10.31 meters. Braby placed 8th overall in the discus throw with a distance of 26.84 meters.
Men's Results:
Elijah Teal placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.35 seconds. Teal finished 8th overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.01 seconds.
Michael Giles finished 5th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.83. Giles placed 6th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:17.74.
Lane Martin placed 7th in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:45.84.
Bryce Hale finished 9th overall in the javelin with a throw of 36.23 meters.
Jason Wilkerson placed 14th overall in the discus throw with a distance of 23.27 meters.
Isaac Armour-Dozier finished 21st in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.28 seconds. Armour-Dozier placed 21st in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.56 seconds.
