Lebanon, IL 2/20/2021- The Westminster women's wrestling team traveled to the Southwest Regional on Sunday. The top five place winners in each weight class qualified to compete at the National Championships on March 4th and 5th.
Tristan Folkner(Florissant, MO / McCluer North) pinned Karstin Hollen (Chadron State) to take fifth place and punched her ticket to nationals! This was one of two pinfall victories on the day.
Folkner lost by pinfall in the quarterfinal match. She would rebound with a pinfall victory at the 1:01 mark in the first match of the consolation bracket. In the consolation semis, Folkner took on Erica Schroeder (Colorado Mesa University) in a tough-fought match. Folkner would lose by pinfall at the 3:52 mark. After the loss, she would move on to the fifth-place match and score a pinfall victory in 1:34.
Taylor Reed (Columbia, Mo. / Battle) competed in the women's 136-pound weight class. Reed lost by pinfall in the quarterfinal round to Holly Beaudoin (Colorado Mesa University). In the first round of the consolation bracket, Reed took on Justice Seely (Lindenwood University) it was a tight match. Reed would end up losing by tech fall, 16-4.
