Blue Jays Celebrate Seniors On Senior Day 

Fulton, Mo 5/4/2024- The Westminster College baseball team hosted the Greenville University Panthers in the season finale with many playoff implications on the line. It was also senior day at Saucier Field and the Blue Jays celebrated their 16 graduating seniors in between games. Both games would be full of drama and come down to the wire. The Blue Jays entered the bottom of the 9th inning in game 1 trailing 6-2. They would rally to bring in 3 runs to make it 6-5 and would have a runner on 2nd base with 2 outs. The Blue Jays would get caught stealing to end the game and the Panthers win it 6-5. In game 2, the Blue Jays would have a 6-5 lead going into the top of the 9th inning and a chance to close it out. They would get the ground ball for a possible double play but would commit an error and allow a run to score to tie the game 6-6. The Panthers would then hit a single to left field to bring in the go-ahead run to go up 7-6. The Blue Jays would go down 1,2,3 in the bottom of the 9th inning and drop game 2 to Greenville 7-6.  

The Panthers improved to 17-23 on the season and 10-8 in the SLIAC. They are the #4 seed in the tournament. The Blue Jays fell to 15-23 on the year and 8-10 in the SLIAC. They will be the #6 seed in the tournament.  

The Blue Jays will be the #6 seed in the SLIAC tournament and host the #3 seed, Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on Tuesday, May 7th in the SLIAC Quarterfinals. They have set the first pitch for Saucier Field at 4:00 PM.
