Adrian, Mi 3/4/2022- Sophomore grappler Tristan Folkner (Florissant, MO / McCluer North) and the Westminster women's wrestling team traveled to Adrian College in Michigan to compete in the NCWWC National Championships. She is only the second athlete in program history to make it to the National Championship. Before leaving on Thursday, she sat down for an interview to talk about competing for a National Championship and what it meant to her.

Folkner would compete in the women's 143-pound weight division against 20 other women from across the country. The best women wrestlers from NCAA DI-DIII, NAIA, and JUCO were all competing for the right to be called "National Champion".

In round one, Folkner faced off against Kya Rybachek (Augsburg University). Folkner would lose by pinfall.

Folkner still had a chance if she could run the gauntlet in the wrestle backs. She would receive a first-round bye in the consolation bracket.

In the second round, Folkner squared off against Erica Schroeder (Colorado Mesa University). Folkner would give a great effort but got pinned by her opponent.

The pinfall ended her National Championship run and capped off a great sophomore campaign.
