FULTON, Mo. - Westminster football added five new members to the football staff over the summer.
The new coaches are Pat Kelley, Tyson Kelley, Mathew Nienhuis, Chase Vaughan, and Josh Villarreal.
Pat Kelley
Pat Kelley will coach the running backs during the 2017 season.
Kelley was most recently the Head Football Coach at Fulton High School since 1997, where he also taught social studies.
Prior to joining the Hornets, Kelley was an assistant coach at Fayette High School.
He also coached golf, wrestling, and track in his time at both schools.
A member of the Missouri Football Coaches Association, Kelley earned his degree in Political Science from Central Methodist, where he was a three-year letter winner for the football team.
He earned his master's in educational administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Tyson Kelley
Tyson Kelleywill coach the linebackers.
Kelley has most recently served as the running backs and linebackers coach at Old Forge Junior Senior High School beginning in June 2016, where he was responsible for implementing run/pass game assignments to running backs and fullbacks.
From 2014-2016, Kelley was the Defensive Coordinator at Holy Redeemer High School, where he developed 14 All-Conference players. Kelley also served as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.
Kelley is a graduate of King's College, where he was a starting member of the football team in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He earned his degree in 2015 in Business Administration and Accounting from the William G. McGowan School of Business.
Mathew Nienhuis
Mathew Nienhuis will coach the defensive line.
A 2016 Westminster graduate, Nienhuis was a student intern coach for Westminster during the 2016-17 season, assisting with linebackers.
While a student, Nienhuis played linebacker and defensive line.
He graduated from Westminster with a degree in Sports Psychology and coaching.
Chase Vaughan
Chase Vaughan will coach the wide receivers.
After graduating from Western Kentucky in 2016, Vaughan worked in contracting for a year before returning to football.
As a player, Vaughan was a member of the Illinois College football team from 2013-15 as a defensive end. He also has playing experience as an offensive lineman at Presbyterian College from 2011-12.
A Jacksonville, Ill., native, Vaughan earned his associate's from Illinois College in 2015, before finishing his bachelor's in organizational leadership at Western Kentucky in 2016.
Josh Villarreal
Josh Villarreal will coach the offensive line. He will also assist in social media responsibilites.
He comes to Westminster with several years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently as Peru State College where he coached tight ends, the offensive line, long snappers, and kickers. While serving as the social media director, he was also in charge of Iowa, Austin, and Dallas recruiting areas.
At Peru State, the offense ranked No. 4 in the NAIA for total rushing offense and offense per game.
During the 2015 season, Villarreal was a graduate assistant at Howard Payne, coaching the offensive line and long snappers.
His first college coaching job was at his alma mater, Bethany College, where he helped coach the running backs and special teams in 2014.
Villarreal was a four-year letter winner at Bethany as an offensive lineman from 2010-14 and was a two-time Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete.
He earned a degree in Health and Wellness with an emphasis in education and coaching from Bethany in 2014.
