Collins, Hausman Earn Player of the Week Nods

ST. LOUIS. - Kyle Collins and Blake Hausman earned the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive players of the week for their performances during the week of Oct. 2-8.

Collins guided the Blue Jays to a pair of conference wins last week. Collins set up the only goal in his team's 1-0 win over Webster, feeding Drake Trease with just seven minutes left on the clock.

Collins got the offense going early in his next game, a 6-0 win over Eureka, netting a goal just three-minutes into the game en route to four Westminster first-half goals. He also added an assist on the game's third goal. On the week Collins finished with a goal and two assists, and was a part of two game winning goals.

Hausman anchored the Blue Jays defense which recorded two shutout wins over conference opponents and limited their foes to just three combined shots on goal in the two games. Hausman and the Blue Jay defense kept the league's leading scorer under wraps in a 6-0 win over Eureka and blanked Webster in a 1-0 win that handed the Gorloks their first conference loss of the year.

The Blue Jays defense held both opponents to less than half their average shots per game during their contests.

Westminster continues SLIAC play at Greenville Tuesday. The match is set for 7 p.m.
