Blue Jays Begin Outdoor Season At CMU Open  

Fayette, Mo 3/16/2024- The Westminster College men's and women's track and field team started the outdoor season competing in the CMU Open in Fayette, Missouri. Kalie Strayhorn set school records in the women's 100- and 200-meter dash. She would win the 200-meter dash and set the 6th fastest time in all of NCAA Division III. Elijah Teal set a school record in the men's 200-meter dash and placed 4th. Moenasia Sidique finished 3rd in the women's 400-meter dash.  

Women's Results:  

Kalie Strayhorn won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.24, the 6th fastest time in all of NCAA Division III. She also placed 3rd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.52.  

Moenasia Sidique placed 3rd overall in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:02.97. She placed 15th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.74. 

Natalie Stewart placed 5th in the women's javelin toss with a throw of 33.14 meters.  

Emma Braby placed 16th in the women's shot put with a throw of 9.66 meters. She also placed 8th in the women's javelin toss with a throw of 33.14 meters.  

Men's Results:  

Elijah Teal placed 4th overall in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.11. He also placed 4th overall in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.53 and set a new school record in the event. 

Michael Giles placed 9th overall in the men's 1500 run with a time of 4:24.28. He would finish 13th in the men's 3000-meter run with a time of 9:40.01.  

Lane Martin placed 22nd in the men's 3000-meter run with a time of 10:49 and set a new personal best for himself. He also finished 28th in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 5:07.32.  

Bryce Hale finished 14th in the men's javelin toss with a throw of 31.97 meters.  

The Blue Jays will be back in action on March 23rd when they compete in the Miner Invite down in Rolla, Missouri, hosted by Missouri S&T.
