Three Blue Jays Earn All-Conference Honors

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the 2014-15 SLIAC Women's Basketball All-Conference teams in between the two semifinal games in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, February 26. The Westminster Blue Jays had three players named to the All-Conference Teams, one named to the All-Defensive Team, and one named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The Blue Jay team also earned the SLIAC Sportsmanship award for the 2014-15 season.

Junior Kasey Gatson earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference after leading the SLIAC in three-point percentage. She holds a 50.0 three point percentage and leads the Blue Jays in scoring with 348 points. She had 19 games with 10+ points and six games with 20+ points while averaging 14.5 points per game. Gatson is ranked second on the team with a 50.2 field goal percentage and in assists with 5. She also has 78 rebounds and 37 steals. 

Sophomore Andrea Zalis earned Second Team All-Conference honors. She led the Blue Jays with 152 rebounds and 18 blocks. She ranked second on the team with 334 points and held a 40.2 field goal and three-point field goal percentage. Zalis averaged 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. 

Junior Mackeznie Haddox earned a spot on the Third Team All-Conference and the All-Defensive Team. She led the team in assists with 101 and steals with 45. She shot 80 percent from the free throw line and 42.1 percent from the field and ranked third on the team with 126 rebounds and 258 points. Haddox is one of just 20 players in the NCAA Division III to achieve a triple double this season in the 75-41 win over Eureka. 

Each conference school gets one player who best displays the ideals of sportsmanship throughout the season named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, and sophomore Bailey Mitchell was chosen for Westminster.
