The Westminster women's tennis team dropped their first conference match of the season to Principia, 9-0. The Westminster Blue Jays sit tied for second place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) with a 3-1 record and are 4-5 on the season.
After dropping the three doubles spots, the Blue Jays started singles play with a 3-0 disavantage.
Principia shut out the Blue Jays in the no. one and no. two spots. In the no. three spot, freshman Laural Royer dropped 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Meaghan McGuire lost in the no. four spot, 7-5, 6-1. Freshman Kelsey Gerlach was up in the no. five spot, but the match was retired. Junior Ellen Woolsey closed out the match in the no. six spot with a 6-2, 6-2 loss.
The Blue Jays next host Stephens College on Monday, April 18, at 4:00 pm.
