Westminster Baseball Defeats Robert Morris-Peoria

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Westminster baseball team defeated Robert Morris-Peoria 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 7-6 on the season with the win.

The Blue Jays scored two runs in the second to take an early 2-0 lead and added on three runs in the third off a pair of bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch. Westminster added another run in the top of the sixth on an RBI single from Branden Beeler.

The Eagles clawed their way back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs off four hits to make it a two-run game. However, Blue Jay pitcher Christopher Hoscher was able to hold them off for the next two innings and Andrew Boessen struck out two Eagles in the ninth to close out the game for his fourth save of the season

Hoscher went six innings for the Blue Jays and recorded four strikeouts to earn his second win of the season. Mason Kirkweg pitched the first inning for the Blue Jays and struck out the side. Skyler Dickneite also threw a perfect inning in relief.

Will Stonecipher led the Blue Jays with two hits in the game and Parker Schnieders stole two bases.
