Westminster College senior outfielder Ryan Clavin (St. Louis, Mo. / Vianney) has been named to the Division III Academic All-America Third Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday.

Clavin, a Business Management and Business Communication major, becomes the third Blue Jay baseball player to earn Academic All-America honors. He joins the ranks of Mark Gifford, who was a Second Team selection in 2001, and Alex Shelton, who earned Second Team honors in 2005 and Third Team honors in 2006.

In just 13 games in 2020, Clavin hit .367 with three home runs and 10 RBI before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Clavin was an offensive force throughout his Westminster career, hitting .357 with a program-record .704 slugging percentage and the fourth-most home runs (22) in program history.

In 2018 Clavin was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-Conference, ABCA Division III All-Central Region First Team, and D3Baseball.com All-Central Regional Second Team. He earned All-Conference and All-Region honors again in 2019 after a historic offensive season in which he set a program record with a .804 slugging percentage.

The Academic All-America Team presented by CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated by their respective school's SID, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and a starter or key contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Voting for the Academic All-America team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
