Westminster Drops Pair to Hendrix in Season-Opening Doubleheader

02/14/2025 Conway, AR- The Westminster College baseball team opened their season in Conway, Arkansas, with two games against Hendrix College on Friday, February 14th. The Blue Jays dropped both games, losing 7-4 in Game 1 and 10-6 in Game 2.

In the first game, Westminster trailed 1-0 after the first inning and was never able to fully close the gap. Despite a strong effort, including a home run from Keli'i Price in the ninth inning, the Blue Jays were held to just four runs on eight hits. William Crabtree and Andrew Kuehn each contributed an RBI, but Hendrix's offense proved too much. Derek Archer took the loss on the mound, going four innings and giving up five runs. Kaleb Hinkle-Pruett and Salvador Moncada kept the game within reach, but the Blue Jays couldn't generate enough offense to catch up. Hendrix finished the game with a 7-4 win.

In the second game, Westminster showed early offensive promise but ultimately lost 10-6. The Blue Jays took a 6-1 lead after the third inning, thanks to a two-run double by Domenic Nordmann and a three-run double by Troy Romero. However, Hendrix responded with five runs in the next two innings, tying the game by the fifth inning and taking the lead in the sixth. Westminster's bullpen struggled in the later innings, and Hendrix added two more runs in the eighth inning to seal the win. Despite strong individual performances from Romero, Keli'i Price, and Aden Pecka, the Blue Jays couldn't keep up with Hendrix's offense. The game was called in the eighth inning due to weather with Hendrix leading 10-6.

The Blue Jays will regroup and look to bounce back as they head into a doubleheader on Sunday against Millikin University, also in Conway, AR. The games are scheduled for 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
