Blue Jays Fall In Overtime

St. Louis, MO, 11/20/21 – The Blue Jay men's basketball team raced out to a 12-point lead in the first half against perennial Division III power the Centre College Colonels out of Kentucky in the first game of the Webster University Classic. The Blue Jays still lead by double figures midway through the second half when the Colonels defense would stiffen and they would storm back to take a late lead.  The Jays would hit a big three pointer by Jaxon Althaus (Oak Grove, MO / Oak Grove) to tie the game and force overtime.  The Colonels would not miss a shot in the overtime period and outscored the Jays 15-6 to win the game 76-67.  The loss dropped the Blue Jays record to 2-3 on the season.

Althaus led the Blue Jay attack with 18 points. Landon Harrison (Jefferson City, MO / Helias) chipped in 16 points.  Harrison and Althaus led the Blue Jays with six rebounds each as the Blue Jays and the Colonels tied on the boards 25-25.  Harrison and Althaus led the Jays in assists too with four assists each.  Tre Kempker (Eugene, MO / Eugene) led the team with three steals.

The Blue Jays are back in action on Saturday November 20th when they will face the University of Dallas Crusaders in the second game of the Webster Classic.  The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. tip off.
