Memphis, TN, 11/27/21 – The Westminster College men's basketball team travelled to Memphis, TN after the Thanksgiving holiday to take part in the Rhodes College Thanksgiving Tournament. The Blue Jays were looking to earn a trip to the tournament's championship game on Saturday as they would face the tournament hosts the Rhodes College Lynx. Poor shooting and turnovers plagued the Blue Jays as the Lynx Jumped out to a 13-point halftime lead 45-32. Despite a brief period of inspired play to start the second half the Jays shooting woes would continue as they would fall 92-65 to the Lynx.
The Blue Jays were led by Landon Harrison (Jefferson City, MO / Helias) who tallied 15 points. He was followed by Ethan Thompson (Columbia, MO / Hallsville) who joined him in double figures with 10 points. Harrison also led the Blue Jays in rebounding with six. The Lynx would hold a large advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Blue Jays 42-24. Makygh Galbreath (Fulton, MO / Fulton) came through with three steals to lead the Jays.
The Blue Jays will not have much time to dwell on this outcome as they will face the #16th ranked team in the nation on Sunday in the Rhodes Thanksgiving Tournament Third Place game. The Blue Jays will face the University of Dubuque in a Sunday afternoon match-up. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
