Blue Jays Lose On The Road To Prairie Wolves

Lincoln, NE 12/16/2023- The Westminster College men's basketball team traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska, to take on the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves. The Prairie Wolves would defeat the Blue Jays 89-56 and improve to 6-2 on the season. The Blue Jays fell to 1-9 on the year. 

Westminster jumped out to an early 5-2 lead. Nebraska Wesleyan would take the lead at 6-5 with 17:40 left in the first half. The Blue Jays would hang around early in the first half, but the Prairie Wolves would rip off a 11-0 run to take a 26-11 lead. They would head into the locker room at halftime with a 46-24 lead. 

The Blue Jays would battle in the second half, scoring 32 points in the half, but the size of Nebraska Wesleyan proved to be too much for Westminster to overcome. The Prairie Wolves would coast and win the game with a final score of 89-56. 

Nebraska Wesleyan would out-rebound the Blue Jays 57-39, with 16 of them being offensive rebounds that lead to 15 second chance points. The Blue Jays would hit 8 three pointers in the game, going 8-24 from behind the arc. 

Freshman forward, Aaron Poage, led the way with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Brennan Jeffries would also score in double-digits with 11 points. Ben Eberlin had 9 points and 6 rebounds for the Jays. 

The Blue Jays will return to Fulton and prepare to host Monmouth College on Tuesday, December 19th in their last game of 2023. The game will begin at 6:00 pm inside the Historic Gym.
