Blue Jays Finish 4th In SLIAC Outdoor Championship

Greenville, IL 4/29/2023- The Westminster College women's track and field team competed in the SLIAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois on Friday, and Saturday. The Blue Jays would finish 4th overall with 34 team points. Natalie Stewart (West Plains, MO / West Plains) won the women's javelin throw by setting a SLIAC and Westminster College record. Moenasia Sidique (Mexico, MO / Mexico) won the 400-meter dash and Hannah Myers (St. Louis, MO / St. Charles West) was named the Women's Field Newcomer of the Year.

Stewart competed in the women's javelin throw on Friday afternoon and would win the event with a throw of 38.21 meters, setting a new conference and school record in the event. The old school record was held by Taylor Howard who threw 31.25 meters back in 2015 at the CMU Invite. The previous all-time SLIAC record was 36.55 meters which were set last by Emma Brown of Greenville University.

Sidique would win the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.97, she has now won the event in back-to-back seasons. She would also finish 5th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.85.

Myers would compete in the high jump, triple jump, long jump, and the 200-meter dash. She placed 4th in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. In the high jump, she recorded a height of 1.52 meters. In the triple jump she finished with a 10.85m jump and in the long jump she had a jump of 5.02 meters. In the 200-meter dash, she would finish 8th with a time of 27.61.
