Greenville, IL 11/5/2022- The Westminster College volleyball team faced off against the Fontbonne University Griffins in the 2022 SLIAC Volleyball Championship match. The Blue Jays defeated Greenville in five sets earlier in the day to get to the championship match. The Griffins defeated Webster University in three straight sets to advance to the championship.

The Griffins would win the match 3-1 (20-25,25-12,23-25,19-25) and win the 2022 SLIAC Volleyball Tournament. The Blue Jays dominated the second set, but it was a battle in the other three sets with the Griffins coming out on top when the dust settled.

Westminster defeated Fontbonne in five sets in their match at Fontbonne. The Griffins would sweep the Blue Jays in three sets in the game at Fulton. The championship game was the third time this season that the two teams met.

The Blue Jays were led by Malena Bixby (New Berlin, IL / New Berlin) who had fourteen kills in the match. Kate Rable had thirty-four assists in the game and ten digs. The Blue Jays had five different players with double-digit digs.

After the match, it was announced that Bixby and Rable were named to the 2022 SLIAC All-Tournament team.

The four Blue Jay seniors end their storied careers having made it to the championship game all four years in a row. Winning the championship in their freshman year and finishing in second place in the last three seasons.

Westminster ends their season with a record of 19-16 overall and 9-5 in the SLIAC.
