Women's Cross Country, Kuykendall, Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their 2016 All-Academic awards with the Westminster women's cross country team earning the Team Academic Award and Jessie Kuykendall receiving All-Academic honors.

In order to be named USTFCCA All-Academic, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and finish in the top-25 percent at their respective regional. For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.

The Westminster women's cross country team compiled a team GPA of 3.5, and as a team finished 30th at the NCAA Midwest Regional. 

Jessie Kuykendall earned an individual award and was placed on the All-Academic Team. The award caps an impressive 2016 season for Kuykendall, who was named All-Region after finishing 22nd at the regional meet. 

The academic award is the first for Kuykendall and the women's cross country team.
