Women's Basketball: Blue Jays at Fontbonne University Preview

Fulton, Mo. - The Westminster College Blue Jay women's basketball team will be back in action on Friday night.  Head Coach Talisha Washington and her team will take on Fontbonne University over in St. Louis looking for the season sweep of the Griffins. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

Taking a look at the Westminster College Blue Jays (6-2, 4-1 SLIAC):

  • The Blue Jays are coming off of back to back wins against Greenville College on the road last week 84-67 and 81-53 vs Blackburn at Westminster last Friday night.
  • The Blue Jays are led in scoring by Reese Arnold at 16.8 PPG, Avylina Powel-Qualo 12.0 PPG and Kallee Dowler 10.9 PPG.
  • Powel-Qualo leads the Blue Jays in rebounding at 7.9 RPG followed by Madison Schaeffer with 7.5 RPG.
  • Arnold leads the team averaging 2.8 assists per game.
  • Arnold also leads the team in steals at 1.1 steals per game.
  • After eight games the Blue Jays are averaging 80.3 PPG while shooting 42.9% from the field, 35.1% from the three-point line and 64.5% from the free throw line.

 Taking a look at the Fontbonne University Griffins (3-2, 3-2 SLIAC):

  • The Blue Jays beat the Griffins back on February 27th 102-67 in Fulton.
  • The Griffins are coming off of back to back road wins as they beat Iowa Wesleyan 71-61 and Eureka 68-59.
  • The Griffins lead the all-time series 37-24.
  • The Griffins leading scorers are Rylee Stafford 21.8 PPG, Kourtney White at 14.3 PPG and 10.4 PPG.
  • The Griffins leading rebounders are Jillian Venegas with 11.8 RPG and White with 8.7 RPG.
  • Fontbonne's Rylee Picket and Venegas lead the team with 2.2 APG.
  • Stafford leads the Griffins with 2.6 steals per game.
