Blue Jays Season Comes To An End 

St. Louis, Mo 2/24/2024- The Westminster College women's basketball team took on Webster University in the SLIAC women's basketball championship game for the fourth year in a row. The Gorloks have come out on top the last two seasons and the Blue Jays looked to flip the script. Westminster would have a 19-point lead at 30-11 with 7:28 left in the second quarter. Webster would storm back to take the lead and win the game 71-56. The Blue Jays end their season with a 17-10 record overall and 14-4 in the SLIAC. Webster goes undefeated at 27-0 on the year and 18-0 in the SLIAC as they await their first-round opponent in the NCAA tournament. 

The Blue Jays started the game on all cylinders, stunning the Gorloks jumping out to a big lead early, and taking a 24-9 lead after the first quarter. Momentum would begin to shift as halftime neared, with Webster chipping away slowly at the Blue Jays lead. Westminster would have a 7-point lead at halftime, 38-31. 

Webster would tie the game for the first time since it was 0-0 at 42-42 with 3:39 left in the third quarter. The Gorloks defense would hold the high-octane Blue Jay offense to 18 points total in the second half and won the game 71-56. 

Annette Ramirez led the Blue Jays with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Avylina Powell-Qualo had a double-double in her final game as a Blue Jay, scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. After the game, it was announced that both Ramirez and Powell-Qualo were named to the SLIAC All-Tournament team.
