Blue Jays Suffer Loss to Coe, 3-0

The Westminster women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to undefeated Coe College on Sunday, September 20. The loss brings the Westminster Blue Jays to 2-4-1 on the season.

Coe scored just 7:24 into the game with a shot going into the upper left corner of the net. The Blue Jays took five shots including three on goal throughout the first half, but were unable to get past Coe's goalkeeper. Coe took just three more shots in the half.

The Blue Jays took three shots in the first 25 minutes of the second half while they held Coe to no shots. In the 72nd minute, Coe took a shot from 35 yards out that went over Westminster's keeper Ellen Woolsey's head to bring the score to 2-0. In the 83rd minute, Coe added another goal to the score as they beat the keeper to the left side of the goal. Westminster took two more shots, but could not find the net.

Westminster outshot Coe 14-11. Senior Eileen Koppy took three shots on goal for the Blue Jays.

Woolsey (2-4-1) was credited with the loss in goal. She faced seven shots on goal and had four saves. 

The Blue Jays open up conference play on Saturday, September 26 with a home game versus Fontbonne University at 7:00 p.m. This game will also serve as their "Play For K" game.
