Koppy Scores Both Goals in 2-1 Overtime Win

Westminster senior Eileen Koppy scored both goals, including the overtime game-winning goal, in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over Greenville College. The conference victory ties the Westminster Blue Jays with Webster for first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) with a 7-1 record. They are now 9-5-1 overall.

The first 45 minutes of play remained scoreless, despite four shots-on-goal and five shots taken.

Greenville scored just two minutes into the second half to take the 1-0 lead, and it was not until 82:46 that Koppy was able to tie the game after finding the middle of the net with freshman Courtney Whitlock's pass.

The Blue Jays were unable to get another shot off before the buzzer went off, sending the game into overtime.

After 5:42 of play, Koppy took a shot that was blocked, but the ball bounced off the defender back to her feet. She took another shot and this one landed in the goal to end the game with the 2-1 win!

Junior keeper Ellen Woolsey (9-5-1) recorded the win in goal. She tallied four saves in her 95:44 in net.

The Blue Jays close out the 2015 regular season with a home match on Saturday, October 31 versus Spalding. The 3:00 pm game will be played at Battle High School in Columbia, Mo. The eight Blue Jay seniors will be honored prior to the start of their game (approximately 2:45 pm).
