Blue Jays Conclude Season with Fifth Place Finish

Westminster Women's Tennis lost their first match of the SLIAC Tournament to Greenville, but won their second on the day against Blackburn to take home 5th Place.

To lead off the tournament, the Blue Jays lost in a dual match to Greenville by a close score of 5-4.

Sydney Attebery and Clara Baldwin won the sole doubles match on the day for the Blue Jays, winning by a score of 8-4. Natalie Tiffany and Laural Royer lost in a very tight match on the day against Courtney Blaser and Maddi Walsh 9-8.

In singles, Sydney Attebery, Clara Baldwin, and Kelsey Gerlach won the matches for the Blue Jays.

Laural Royer and Alexa McPherson each played in intense three-set matches but ultimately came up on the losing end. Royer lost by a score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 while McPherson lost by a tight score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

In the Blue Jays' second match of the day, they matched up with the Blackburn Beavers. 

Westminster won in a 5-0 sweep, with all three doubles matches ending in a Blue Jay victory. Sydney Attebery and Payton Beeler won in the closest doubles match on the day by a score of 8-6.

Laural Royer and Laura Kelly took home the singles victories for the Blue Jays in the only two singles matches that were completed. Royer won by a score of 6-1, 6-0 while Kelly swept both sets 6-0, 6-0.

Westminster Women's Tennis finishes the season at 6-7 overall (3-3 in SLIAC).
