McCaul and Howard Break Records in Final Indoor Season Meet

Westminster sophomores Shannon McCaul and Taylor Howard each broke a record at the final meet of the indoor season. The Westminster Blue Jays competed against five teams at the Prin Multis hosted by Principia College, but no team scores were kept.

McCaul broke the five-year old 800-meter run record, shaving almost two seconds off the time with her first place finish. She crossed the line in 2:25.64, taking first out of seven runners.

Howard broke the triple jump record for the third consecutive meet. She jumped .05 meters farther than last meet, resetting it with a 9.59-meter mark. She also competed in the 400-meter dash and placed second with a 1:04.18 time.

Freshman Katie Herzing also competed in the 400-meter dash. She placed fifth with a 1:16.30 time.

Freshman Jessie Kuykendall was the final competitor for the Blue Jays. She took third place in the mile run out of eight runners, finishing with a time of 5:42.20.

The Prin Multis closed out the indoor season portion of track and field. The outdoor season begins on Saturday, March 19, at the Central Methodist Open.
