FULTON, Mo. - Despite seven shutout innings from Mason Kirkweg, a late rally from Webster was too much for the Blue Jays in the 5-2 rubber match loss.

Westminster fall to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with the loss. 

The Blue Jays immediately took a lead in the first inning, with Zach Stiles and Branden Beeler reaching base for Ryan Clavin, who drove in Stiles with a single to left field, giving Westminster a 1-0 lead. 

Kirkweg stepped in to pitch seven shutout innings for Westminster, allowing just four hits in seven innings to hold the 1-0 lead for the Blue Jays. 

In the eighth, the Gorloks came alive at the plate and notched back-to-back doubles with runners in scoring position and a sacrifice fly to take a 5-1 lead in the eighth.

Westminster added a run in the bottom of the eighth thanks to an RBI from Ryan Klimkiewicz to make the score 5-2. In the bottom of the ninth, Beeler and Hayden Hirschvogel both reached base to send the tying run to the plate, but the Gorloks were able to get the last two outs to take the series win 5-2. 

Mason Kirkweg took the loss, pitching 7.1 innings and giving up five runs, two earned, on six hits while stirking out five.

Klimkiwicz, Clavin, and Hirschvogel each recorded a multi-hit game. 

The Blue Jays travel to Iowa Wesleyan Saturday and Sunday for a three-game series.
