ST. LOUIS - Westminster men's basketball fell to SLIAC opponent Webster 79-68 behind a game-high 24 points from Jimmy Villalobos. 

The Blue Jays lose their second straight coming off of a seven-game winning streak. They fall to 12-6 overall and 8-3 in the conference. 

"Webster is the most talented team in the league and they played like it today," said Westminster Head Coach Matt Mitchell. "We got off to a slow start and it really cost us in the long run."

Westminster got off to a slow start while Webster went on a 9-0 run to open the game. At the 17:21 mark, Sean O'Brien added the first points for the Blue Jays. O'Brien went on to put the first eight points on the board for Westminster. 

The Blue Jays could never catch up to Webster in the first half and fell behind by double-digits twice in the first half. The half ended with a score of 48-37 with the advantage to the Gorlocks. 

Villalobos and Romo Tabb combined for six points each to lead Westminster on a 12-2 run to start the second half, putting the Blue Jays back within three points of the Gorlocks. 

"We came back in the second half and we really thought we were going to win the game," said Mitchell. "We had three or four missed opportunities late in the second half that really cost us."

A jump shot from Villalobos at the 12:47 mark gave Westminster its first tie of the game at 55 points each. Villalobos and O'Brien combined for the next 10 Blue Jay points, but Westminster was still down 68-64 with under 10 minutes to play. 

The Blue Jays ended on a scoring drought while Webster finished on a 9-0 run to finish the game.

Villalobos led the team with 24 points, going 7-14 from the field and 6-9 from behind the arc.  O'Brien added 21 points on 10-18 shooting. 

Westminster continues conference play Wednesday at Spalding for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
