Westminster Men's Lacrosse Opens At Home

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster men's lacrosse lost to Benedictine in the team's home opener.

Westminster opens the season 0-2 in the 26-0 loss.

"It's never an easy pill to swallow when you're on this side," said Westminster Head Coach Scott Fields. "The boys never stopped fighting and that's all I can ask from then when put in this situation."

Jake Hammerstone and Ethan Muffet led the way for the Blue Jays offensively, recording all of the three shots Westminster recorded on goal.

Tirso Aquino started in goal and made 15 saves in the first half.

"Tirso played an amazing first half making 15 saves on 28 shots," said Fields. "Andrew Patterson fought until the end while trying to get some offense going.

Muffet, Jacob Freudenthal, and Jeremy Hill played a great game on defense each having some takeaways on a few big hits," continued Fields.

Westminster travels to St. Mary's March 2 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.

"We will continue to build on strengths and work on our weaknesses," said Fields. "Everyday is an opportunity for us to get better."
